Rod's Story

I imganie not many will remember me. I was very quite and shy. Did very poorly in school just couldn't concentrate very long on anything. Did have a couple of close friends which I have missed for many years. You will have to go back to your Junior yearbook to find me. Played football had fun but didn't letter. I was the president of the Red Cross Club - my one achievement for 11 years of school in Wichita. After spending all of my childhood in Wichita and had to leave only weeks before my senior year started I found myself in Sultan Washington. Small logging town in the Mountains. That year the teachers and fellow students helped me to find myself (graduating class of only 44 seniors) founds I really loved school and could study and make excellent grades. Graduated from there in 1968 where I went to a local community college for a year figuring out what to do. Transfered to BYU where I attended for 4 years and graduated with a BS in Computer Science. hile there I met my wife Elaine (we have now been married for 38 years) and our first daughter was born Cherie. During college I was in AF ROTC which means I entered the Air Force upon graduation as a 1st LT. Stayed in the Air Force for almost 8 years before leaving to go back to the Seattle area and work for Boeing. During that time we had two more children Jennifer and Aaron. I lived in Auburn, WA for 25 years with 20 of that working for Boeing until I retired to go to work for Airborne Express. During that timeframe I earned my MS degree in Computer Science where I continued on as an Associate Professor teaching part-time in their graduate program. Shortly after that Airborne was bought out by DHL and we had to move to Mesa, AZ. Where we live currently. But now we have 7 grandchildren. Last year I quit DHL and went to work for SAS as a senior consultant. Now I fly around the world helping companies with our software. Lots of fun and I am very happy.
