Roderick's Story
The last 35 years has really been a wild ride. Let me start by saying I am in good health. I did have heart bypass surgery about 5 years ago, but I am going strong.
After PH I went to VSU and graduated with a degree in Business. The economy being what is was in 78 in Va, caused me to move to Charlotte NC in search of better oppotunities. I lived in Charlotte for 5 years. I moved back to Ashland in 1983 when the economy was looking up, but I quickly discovered how boring it was.
So in 1985 I quit my job as a restaurant manager, and joined the US Army! 6 months later I was standing in the crossroads of where for centuries armies had clashed in the battles for the domination of Europe. I was a sol...Expand for more
dier in the 8th Signal Battalion 8th Inf Div watching Russian soldiers as we played a crazy game of cat and mouse in the Fulda Gap.
I stayed in the Army for 12 years, mostlty in Europe. The advantage was I have vactioned in Italy, Spain, Germany, France and Belgium. I also spent some time in Turkey, and Iraq, but thats a different story.
The Army gave me confidence, that I was lacking, it also gave me a marketable skill in telecomunications that has allowed me to have a comfortable life.
It also was where I found my wife of 23 years.
We are living in Lawrenceville Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta. We have been here for 10 years. Georgia is backwards but Atlanta is full of intresting people.
