Rodger's Story
Life....
I was a Houston Fire Dept. Para-Medic until I achieved my degree in Construction Safety. Since then, I have lived and worked all over the world from Norway to the Middle East. I also have worked in Poland for two years. I am now a resident of Alaska. I am single now which allows me to chase more international work. Jan. 2006 found me completing two years work in Iraq. I was with KBR as the G Site HSE Manager. I was reqponsible for the Safety, Health and Environmental programs on 5 Coalition Military Base located in the south central part of the country. Iraq got too dull so I changed companies and found myself working under the EXXON/Mobil umbrella as the HSE Coordinator On a Gas to Liquids Facility located on a small island called Bonny, Nigeria. Nigeria...should I say more...Due to Nigeria becoming a breeding ground for the bad boys in the world, EM has stopped all construction activities in the country. I was, until June of 08, working at an Oil and Gas Facility located in the outback of Sakhalin Island, Russia. But the Russian Government found out that I went to Reagan and pulled my VISA. I am no longer working in Russia. EM then assigned me to a short term project in Papua New Guinea. Papua New Guinea is the land where National Geographic does not venture into. It was very interesti.
EXXON/Mobil has called. I am now working in Ulsan, S. Korea watching a brand new Drilling Ship being built. Once the vessel is certified (somewhere towards the end of 2010) it will sail to the Black Sea off the north coast of Turkey. This project did ot work out for me due to an unforeseen illness.
So, in early 2010, it was back to Valdez, Alaska. I as employed by several contractors who were preformingnew consrction at the Valdez Marine Terminal. In May of 2012, all the work was completed so the time was right he get out of Alaska.
I now live in Huntington, TX which is outside of Lufkin. I have not decided yet if I am going to retire or head out for another adventue.
I have two children. Kellie (my daughter) is the HR Director of a hospital in Austin and Keith (my son) works for a large general construction contractor in Denver, CO.
