Rodney's Story

At Silver Creek High School (74-78), Rodney participated in student government, and varsity football and track & field. After SC, he attended Cal State Chico for one year, prior to transfering to the University of Washington. After practicing law in San Jose for 13 years, rodney moved to Atlanta in 2000. On August 1, 2008, Rodney Gregory Moore was installed as President of the National Bar Association (NBA). Rodney, a San Jose, California native, is the first Georgia lawyer to serve as NBA President in the 82 year history of the association. Rodney G. Moore received his Bachelors of Art Degree (Political Science) from the University of Washington and his Doctors of Juris Prudence from Santa Clara University School of Law (1985). In 1989, Rodney opened the Moore Law Firm, APC, in Downtown San Jose. Rodney operated a very successful practice, handling major cases (one of which was featured on Dateline NBC and CBS Eye on America). His skilled civil advocacy led to him being named "Lawyer of The Year" in 1998, by the California Association of Black Lawyers. istrict, in San Jose, California. In January 2000, after a nationwide search, Rodney G. Moore accepted the position as General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer of the Atlanta Public Schools. Currently, Rodney G. Moore is a Member of Moore Sparks, LLC (Attorneys & Counselors at Law), located at 303 Peachree Street, Suite 4340, Atlanta, Ga. 30308. His practice consists of the representation of corporations, emerging busineses and government agencies in labor and employment and commercial litigation. As an experienced litigator, Rodney has tried cases to verdict both in federal and state courts. He is an AV rated attorney [Martindale-Hubbell] and has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 2007. In 2008, he was selected by The National Journal as one of the 50 Most Influential Minority Attorneys in America. Rodney served as General Counsel to the National Bar Association from 1997 to 1999, and Vice President from 2002-2004. Rodney is on the Board of Visitors at Santa Clara University Law School . He is a member of many distinguished organizations and associations, including Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and the 100 Black Men of America.
