Roger's Story
After graduation I went to work for LILCO for a few years. In 1963 I joined the Air Force and spent my time in Biloxi, Mississippi, Anchorage, Alaska, and Oscoda, Michigan. I worked as a Morse Intercept Operator. I also continued my High School activity of marksmenship, and did quite a bit of travel while firing on several Air Force Rifle Teams.
In 1969 I married the former Susan Romano, from Hicksville. Shortly after our wedding we moved to Greeley, Colorado, where I accepted an engineering position with Public Service Company of Colorado. While in Greeley I attended evening classes at the University of Northern Colorado and earned my bachelors degree in Personnel Management. I then went on to earn my MBA at UNC. After graduation I transferred to the Human Resources area at PSCO, where I worked in benefits administration for the remainder of 29 years until I took early retirement.

ce and moved the function to Chesapeake, Virginia. We took the transfer back to the east coast where I worked on the administration of the many Boeing Aircraft retirement plans. In 2003 I left TPF&C, We moved to Cary, North Carolina where we now live in a Del Webb Retirement Community. We have met several other BHS alumni living here. We get together on a regular basis to reminisce about the "Good Ole Days"
Entering the "easy life" of retirement wasn't all I hoped it would be. Retired life was too easy. I needed something to do. I accepted a volunteer tour guide position with Carolina Tiger Rescue, an organization that rescues lions, tigers, and other assorted smaller cats from the pet trade and other disagreeable situations. So now, 2 or 3 times a week I guide a group of guests on a "safari" of our preserve.
Sue and I have just celebrated our 48th anniversary. We have 2 daughters, Kristie who still lives in Colorado with her husband and three children, and Julie, who now lives in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, with husband and three children.
