Life After high school, I was the quintessential child of the 60's; i.e.: directionless and drifting. The only problem was that the sixties were over and people were getting on with their lives. After a few years of non-taxing but boring jobs, I enlisted in the Army. You know, "be all you can be." Only it wasn't what I wanted to be...especially since the Viet Nam war was still happening (but winding down). I sort of drifted into bookselling at that time. I worked for Oscar's Bookshop in Huntington (still one of my favorite bookshops although it only exists in memory now) for a couple of years and then went on to work for McGraw-Hill Publishers as a sales rep and a book wholesaler as a sales manager.
