After Munich American High School I attended the University of Maryland, Munich Campus. While there I played basketball, soccer and football. I coached the football team the last year I was there. I received an Associate in Arts Degree from the University of Maryland. I went back to the states and after a brief semester at the University of Maryland, College Park, and got a job at a youth center on Peterson Field, Colorado Springs. I decided to go back to school and enrolled at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley Colorado. I graduated from UNC with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation Administration in 1977. While at the University, I worked for the intramural department running the soccer and basketball programs. I also played on the University Soccer Team while I was there. After graduation in 1977, I got a summer job at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.
