Roger's Story
I graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1972 with a BS degree in Engineering Management and was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the Air Force. First assignments were to go to Grad School then Pilot Training. Received my MBA from UCLA in 1973 and graduated from Pilot Training in 1974. Flew on active duty in the Air Force at McChord AFB, WA from 1974-1979. Got out of the Active Duty in 1979 and flew in the Air Force Reserve at McChord AFB until my retirement in 2002 at the rank of Colonel serving as the Vice Wing Commander. Hired as a pilot by United Airlines in 1979. I retired from United after more than 36 years on June 1, 2015 as a Boeing 747 Captain, based in San Francisco, flying routes to Asia, Australia and Europe. I was one of two members representing Jefferson on the PIL Sports Hall of Fame Selection Committee.

back to the Portland/Vancouver area in 1979. Daughter Allison, is a University of Washington graduate, in the pharmaceutical business and currently living in Orange County, CA. Son James, has been the Director of Human Resources at several major hotel chain properties. James graduated from Western Washington University in June of 2001. In November of 2001 he was in an automobile accident that left him a paraplegic, paralyzed from the mid-chest level down. He drives a car with hand controls, has owned his own home and is an inspiration to his family and friends, and my hero! He now resides in Orange County, CA.
In July 2015 daughter Allison brought into the word our grandchild, Daphne. With daughter Allison, granddaughter Daphne and son James all living in Orange County we made the decision to leave the Northwest and head south to Southern California to be near them. We have recently finished having a new home built in a new master planned community in Orange County called Rancho Mission Viejo, about 3 miles east of San Juan Capistrano, CA.
