Current bio - Mr. Schmidt has over 45 years as a licensed practicing attorney with over 20 years hands on experience in franchising including time as a general counsel for a multi-international franchisor and as a franchisee for a major multi brand food franchise. Mr. Schmidt has taught 17 years at Baylor University Law School as a law professor teaching Franchise Law. Schmidt is also credentialed as a CFE (Certified Franchise Executive) by the IFA (International Franchise Association). Currently Mr. Schmidt continues his law practice in Waco, Texas as the managing Partner of Schmidt Ayers specializing in franchising, corporate and transactional law.Ayers located in Waco, Texas. Immediately prior to joining Curves International, Inc., Mr. Schmidt was general counsel and shareholder in The Olajuwon Group/Hospitality Restaurants in Houston, Texas, which was a multi-unit/multi brand franchisee in the food industry.
