Roger's Story
Life
I've worked as a radio announcer for over 20 years. . .
I became interested in Radio Broadcasting and went through the radio program at Mt. Hood Community College(1981-1983). I had the privilege of being the first music programmer for the college jazz station KMHD and did that for a few years. Later I worked as an announcer for various stations in the Portland/Vancouver area: KAAR, KRDR, KYTE, and KKCY.
Spent a couple of years at Portland State and graduated in 1989 with a BA in Communication. Taught for a few years at National Broadcasting School in Portland (now defunct) about that same time, and had a very short and pathetic career in sales at KUFO. 2000). I'm currently working as an announcer at KKPZ (another Christian station in Portland). I'm married to a wonderful woman, Suez (Sue-Zee), have two great step children Cinnamon, 23and Ben 17. We live in Keizer (just north of Salem) and commute to Portland (My wife and I both work in Portland - Yikes!).
For fun: I've made a couple of cross country driving trips that included New York, Chicago, and New Orleans. Slept in my car and took showers at truck stops. I've slowed down a little though because on my last trip in October 2003, I stayed over at a couple of motels. . .I also love going to garage sales and thrift stores looking for records or CDs, playing on my computer, and occasionally I do like a little yard work - once I get out to do it.
