Rolando's Story

Life After graduating from Tennyson, I attended Cal State University, graduating in 1969. I was drafted but entered the U. S. Air Force in 1970,trained as a jet engine mechanic and was fortunate to visit countries such as Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam. I was commissioned to 2Lt in 1973 and worked as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer. Travelled and worked in Germany, Greece, Japan, Korea, Kuwait,and Saudi Arabia. Stateside assignments included the Pentagon, Texas, Arizona, California, Illinois, Georgia, and Nevada. I am currently assigned to the 414th Combat Training Squadron (Red Flag) in Las Vegas Nevada. endation Medal, USAF Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal (2 OLC), South West Asia Expeditionary Medal (2 OLC), and the Vietnam Campaign/Service Medals. My jobs in the Air Force included, Squadron Commander (3 assignments), Aircraft Division Chief (Pentagon), Maintenance Inspector (Inspector General Team), U.S. Aircraft Liaison to the Ministry of Defense and Aviation (Saudi equivalent to the US Pentagon). I am currently a Lieutenant Colonel assigned to Red Flag as the Chief of Plans and Engineering but plan to retire in July 2000. I completed my Masters Degree in Organizational Management from UOP. I have been married for 25 years to my bride, Darlene. We have one son, Kevin, age 18.
