Ron(Corky)'s Story
Life
I followed my life's ambition in music. After 11 years at Walt Disney World as a stagehand (lighting technician, then Audio engineer, then Pyro/Laser Technician, then Senior Technical Director of World Festival Program at EPCOT Center), I was invited to NYC, by IATSE Local #1 (Broadway Stagehands Union) in 1987. I accepted the position of Senior Audio Engineer at the best accoustic Concert Hall in NYC; Kaufman Concert Hall.(Various Grammy Nominations). Worked for Radio City Music Hall, Metropolitan Opera, CBS (The Evening News with Dan Rather; As The World Turns; various others... last position with CBS was Props on: The Dave Letterman Show... yeah that was me on camera, sometimes, on funny on-screen-blurbs), etc.
I enjoyed my work in classical, jazz, cabaret, Opera, Broadway Musicals/Showcase in NYC. Yearly series with noted muscians, authors, comics, poets, composers and lyricists, and spiritual leaders: New York Chamber Symphony, Metropolitan Opera, Curt Vonnegut, Mya Angelou, Elie Wiesel, Steven Wright, Liza Minnelli, Dave Letterman, etc. Itzak Perlman smoked one of the first cigars when my daughter was born! (That album was Grammy nominate...Expand for more
d!)
Lost two wives in NYC. One to her greed (whatever), one to her youth. I was ready to move south. That was Christmas 1996.
My incredibly beautiful, even more intelligent, daughter earned her 2 year degree 350 days after she graduated high school. Her name is Anya Nicolene Campbell. She plans to be a veternarian. She has always loved animals.
I live in Atlanta now. I work in the tradeshow industry business as an I&D specialist. I mostly work in a supervisory position and travel for dedicated clients; but I still sling tables and lay carpet when needed here in Atlanta. My company sends me on the road for special clients. I enjoy that.
I haven't played my trumpet or flugelhorn in a while. I have a few guitars that I like to play. I like to play my mandolin the most. My favorite sport is NASCAR. My Judy turned me on to NASCAR.
I lost my long-term girlfriend (8 years) this April (2007) to lung cancer. Her name is Judy. I miss her. A lot. She was my special gift from God.
Oh yeah, the Q & A section was bogus. The questions are limited to the answers that are programmed to some kind of profile ( I guess ).
Yeah, that's me. Ron (Corky)
