Ron's Story

I was born and raised in San Luis Obispo, California. I attended Mission-Nativity, San Luis Obispo High School, American River JC, Cuesta College, Stanislaus State, Cal Poly/SLO- and LA Verne University. I currently posses an Associate Arts Degree, Teaching Credential, Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Masters Degree in Education. My interests include basketball, baseball, football, golf, concerts, attending college and professional sporting events, traveling, and having BBQ's . As for Music I like country, oldies, pop, blues and some of my artists includes Jimi Hendrix, The Benwahs, Neil Young, Elvis, Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, Tim McGraw and The Crystal Method. TV shows I like Two and a Half Men, Seinfeld, Entourage, Bonanza, True Detective, CSI, and It's always Sunny in Philly. Finally, I am at a great point in my life, I have three really beautiful kids (two boys Matt, Chaz and a daughter Courtney) and I am retired, but coach basketball at the college ...Expand for more
level part time. I have been fortunate enough to have been a professional basketball player, school teacher, principal, athletic director, Superintendent. I retired from education as a Superintendent in 2004. Also I have coached basketball for Laguna JRHS under Legendary Coach Bill Harvey, Morro Bay HS under Cary Nerelli, Surprise Valley High School, Cuyama Valley High School, Righetti High School, Saint Joseph HS, and Cuesta College. "The happiest people don't have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything they have." I can honestly say I was taught at a young age from my now deceased parents, "Boots and Beans Barba" to work hard , be responsible, volunteer, learn to do things on your own, and learn to be dedicated to what you are doing. They emphasized to me to give back to the less fortunate, community, church and by doing so it gives you something better than money, it gives you a piece of heart and mind. I truly know what they meant now.
