Ron's Story
After college and graduate school I worked for the Dow Chemical Company for 25 years and opted for very early retirement in Dec. of 1999. I did wet chemistry for 10 years and then computer related chemistry for 15 years where I developed skills in scientific animation, and scientific photography. After retirement I taught Geology for 1 year (it was my minor in college). I had to break it off and attend to my mother, who fell ill with an inoperable brain tumor. I stayed with her for two years.
I then returned to Michigan and my wife, who then retired from Dow and SC Johnson, and we moved to the Charlotte area of NC. I authored a book on Agates and Jaspers last year, (via theimage w e b s i t e) and continue to teach macro and micro digita...Expand for more
l photography, and sometimes lecture at computer conferences.
We have two curly coated retrievers, which are both registered therapy dogs, and my wife (Marylu) enjoys doing dog training at a local club. I play table tennis 2-3 times a week and my partner and I have won the state senior games doubles championship for a couple of years. We progressed to the nationals once, where we "got killed"!
I make a yearly driving trip to the west (5-6 weeks in length) for the big Rock and Gem shows in Arizona (Jan - Feb) and usually drop by the LA area (Pasadena - Highland Park -etc.) during this trip. I managed to visit David Fisk, Clark Coberly and have talked a couple times with May Jang on the visits. I can be reached through my the "theimage".
