Ron's Story

I was one of the twin brothers who went there originally, however, I completed school at Washington. My twin brother Rich did not. I married Julie Lawrence from the class of 1984 in December 1985 and it definitely was too early to get married. We divorced about 7 years later with one boy. Another classmate from 1983, Sukarno Mcpherson asked me to join the Navy with him in the "buddy system". (supposed to go in together to same bootcamp) Anyone who was in the military knows they lie and I have never seen Sukarno since before bootcamp back in 1984. I went to Chicago for bootcamp, then to Memphis for duty and ended up in Camp Pendleton (Just north of San Diego) for my military time. I then left and went back to Sioux Falls after my enlistment. After messing around and not getting anyplace for a long time (and that divorce I mentioned), I finally met Desiree who was from Rochester Minnesota in about 1998. I took the plunge again and married her and had 3 more kids. This woman saved me from a lot of self doubt over my life. She has never waivered in her love for me. I had a heart attack in October 2003 and it was pretty major in severity. Thank goodness I was in Rochester at the time where the Mayo Clinic could turn me around. They literally saved my life. Since then, I have been in management at one of the fastest growing high tech companies in the United States while also getting a degree. I will be a manager of programmers when all is said and done, but I can run circles around most already in the major programm...Expand for more
ing languages. Only 10 months left. While the economy is heading down, my life has only been improving considerably over the years. I own my wife Desiree (of 10 years now) a lot of credit, however, I owe my life to Mayo Clinic and God. I was on a train heading towards a cliff and I didn't really care. This amazing medical facility inspired me along with my wife and the world has changed for me. I no longer look at things like they are no big deal. Everyone is special, everyday is opportunity, and we all are in the position to change the world. I might not be remembered for the jokes I attempted while walking down the halls at the old Washington school. I probably won't be remembered fondly by former girlfriends who I treated badly. I certainly won't be remembered for my academic achievements when I was a kid, but things have changed a lot. I manage the most profitable line for a very profitable company, even during times of a resession and yes! They pay me exceptionally well. I have grown up (finally) and I realized that I was wrong in the past. People deserve to be treated with the highest of respect at every level in their lives. I also realized how vital schooling was and I have maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout college. Then finally, I devoted my life to God. My mom died on December 23, 2006 and it was the final direction change in my life. She was everything to me and I never got to say goodbye. She believed and with every cell in my body, I believe. I would be nothing without Him. I will always miss my mom.
