Ron's Story
Graduated from St. John's High in 1970. Obtained an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Florence-Darlington Technical College in 1973 and married my wife now of forty two years, Sherron and went straight into a Banking career. Obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management 1984 and was just six credit hours shy of a Masters when the bank urged me to stop and attend "Banker's School. I did and was the youngest graduate from that school finishing a two year curriculum in one and half years. Worked in banking for almost seventeen years, guided our two daughters as they grew up and out from the home. Early retired (Really just walked away) from banking to relax and travel. I was called back into management by Sonoco to work in their accounting department to clean up their accounts receivables for the "Poly Sack Division". Retired again after six years. Felt that I wanted to be helping people in a higher calling. That's when "Habitat for Humanity" called and asked me to be their Executive Director. d for all "Disabled" from a (life threatening injury) sustained back on July 5th 1999. From then only I just wanted to help people as a volunteer in the background unrecognized for my efforts!
My wife and I have traveled extensively throughout the states and world and are "Diamond" cruisers with Carnival. Lived a short time in L. A. California and hope never to do again. As we traveled over the years, I never lost that desire to help others, so I decided to go back to school to become a volunteer firefighter. After six years of that and losing two people (one was a child) that I couldn't save, I retired (quit) again to travel. Then I once again decided to go back to school to become a "Paramedic" and work with the Ambulance system. Lost twelve on that. Two were children which caused me to not have good nights for sleeping. I have long since stopped that too, but since 2009 have helped more people than ever before without their knowledge. That's just the real person I am. that brings you up to date to the year 2013, because if I told you what I'm doing now, you wouldn't believe it anyway. So write me sometime and I'll let you know.
