Ron's Story
Life
U.S.Navy, 3/64. After, raised family, did career, civic involvement, N. of Seattle. Son,Terry,53 & Daughter,Traci,47, 3 grandsons, two great grandchildren. Used stepdad's name (Plotner)for most young yrs., then my birth name, when time to get SS card, (Toussaint).
School
During childhood, I was in show business with my father,(Toussaint) when I lived in San Jose, and (Plotner) when I lived with my step father in Albany, Walnut Creek, and Oakland. I joined the Navy, upon turning 17. Guess I just wanted more in life, at that time. I gathered what info from schools, I felt important, then set out a little earlier than most. I made the best of it, involved in community service, including President of Lion's Club, President, and Truck Captain of a city Fire Department Association, City Parks & Recreation Boardmember, CofC, JC's, etc. Civil Service-a good career, and retired at 45. Completed numerous 'Business Studies', and
Carnegie Institute Certification.
Workplace
Show Business in childhood. Joined Navy-'64. Worked in large Lumbermill...Expand for more
above Seattle, hard work, but loved the smell of new cut lumber! Postal Service 67-92. Retired from Postal Mgmt at 45, in '92.When I was 6-8 yrs old, In the early '50's, I was in 'show biz', my father was a Master Magician & Hypnotist, when "Pop" would be performing a trick on stage, I would be sitting right off stage, next to a phonograph player with an LP of backround music on the turntable. My job was to watch for the 'wink' from Pop, then I would place the needle on the record. Another 'wink', would mean for me to take it off the player. I got "paid" 10 cents a show, which bought a lot of penny candy back then! I learned a lot about magic, showmanship, organization, taking care of all the "show animals" on a daily basis, etc. Later, as a teenager, I would also appear on stage, etc. Signed a lot of autographs for little kids! Played a lot of beautiful theater's, as well as schools, etc. Mainly in the central California area. We had three types of productions, General Family Illusions, Spook Show, and Hypnotism/Magic. We'd pack 'em, in!
