Ron's Story
Life
Life is good! I am semi-retired. I work a couple of days a week as a vocational expert for the Social Security Administration. An associate and I do some vocational work for a few insurance companies and attorneys. The pay is good, the work is easy and I get to set my own schedule! Pat is the Associate Director of Rehabilitation for the University of Illinois Division or Rehabilitation and Educational Services. She runs all non academic programs for the UofI
I have limited my volunteer work to the Church and the boys. Both boys are very involved in athletics and school activites which keeps Pat and me real busy. I coach Junior Football League, do scoring for USA/ISI Swimming, help out with the junior high track team.
Caleb is our oldest. He will earn his Eagle Scout Badge this year! In addition he plays football, runs track, wrestles and swims. He volunteers with the church and works as a Life Guard in the summers. He is a distance swimmer and a distance runner. Through all of this his true love is football. Last year he started as middle line backer and led the team in tackles and sacks. He has one more year!
Jacob is ...Expand for more
our youngest. He just turned 12 this year (2008). He is a ball of energy. Like his big brother he plays football, wrestles, runs track and swims. But his love is split between football, running and swimming. He will run 10 or more 10ks this summer. He also is a fantastic swimmer. As an 8 year old he was ranked 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the State in every stroke. His best strke is the freestyle and the butterfly. In his first meet in the 9 & 10 year old division he made A times in the free and fly. He is within a second from a championship time and will liely make Junior Olympic times by the end of the season. Look for him on the 2016 Olympics!
Well as you can see the boys keep us busy. However, some of our favorite activites are taking long family bike rides and going to the mountains. We had a great time skiing this year. Caleb is a snow boarder and Jake is a skier. They are both fearless and scare Pat and I while we watch.
My hobbies these days are my old Oliver Tractor, rebuilding an old VW for Jacob to drive in a few years and my garden. In addition I know have time to finish the house remodeling job we started "9 years" ago.
