Ronald's Story

Life 1971: Graduated High School and went on to business school. 1972: Graduated business school with computer science and accounting major. Took entry level job in computer operations. Married my high school sweetheart Vicky Terrell. 1973: Took job position as computer operator for Sun Oil Corporation in their world science research and exploration center. 1974: Very unhappy with my life living in the hustle and bustle of the big city. Too young to be married and too immature to know how to save my marriage, I found myself divorced. Worst moment of my life looking back on it today. Moved to Colorado to try and start a new life out of the big city. 1975: Started a business in the Roaring Fork Valley outside of Aspen. Made great money and learned to snow ski as well as mountain climb. 1978: Remarried and moved to the front range so my wife could finish her last year at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. 1979: Wife graduates from college with a BA in education and we move to Grand Junction on the far western side of Colorado 30 miles from Utah. Small town of 50,000 people at that time. 1984: Start another career as a real estate broker and later real estate investor. 1986: Wife surprises me with a Christmas gift full filling one of my life's travel dreams. Travel to New Zealand for 3 weeks. 1988: Have been quite successful in real estate and take a year off to return to New Zealand. My wife gets a grant from UNC to study the school system there for two months. We spend the rest of the 10 months remaining moving around the country living in 4 cities and striking out in circles to fully see the country of New Zealand's three islands. Lots of backpacking and mountain climbing trips over the remaining months. To this day still the biggest highlight of my life. Unbelievable! 1990: Tragically I find myself facing another divorce due to conflict with my spouse. She has reached the age where her biological clock for bearing children is near its end. I have no interest in children at this stage in my life due to work and a desire to still travel and enjoy the wonders of where we live in western Colorado. My marriage flops even though we have seeked marriage counseling. Second wors...Expand for more
t experience in my life because I was in love so deeply with her. 1996: Move to Australia for a year to clear out the stress of work over load at Christmas time. Take 3 weeks in New Zealand to visit friends and to travel the South Island first. 1997: Land in Australia and move to New Castle 2 hours north of Sydney. My girl friend has taken a teacher exchange program where she has traded jobs and residences with her Aussie counterpart. We travel extensively up and down the east coast during the frequent Australian school breaks. Highlight was scuba diving at the Barrier Reef. Awesome! 1998: Return to USA and find a good friend has sold his business. We partner up and start a comparable business but with less inventory. Lots of work and long hours takes its toll on my love life and I find myself with little time to work at a relationship of any kind. 1999: Meet a great lady and now have more time to throttle back on business since the ball is really rolling along. 2004: Have a successful business in place and our economy is exploding in Grand Junction. My girl friend and I are together still after 5 years and are engaged to getting married. She has two children ages 13 and 14 as of this year. 2007:Celebrating 10th year business anniversary, new commercial building purchase for expansion, and our first year to sell $1+ million. Life has steered me on a most exciting and also tragic path over these past 36 years since graduating. Very happy though living here in Colorado. My calling to the outdoors and a smaller community has greatly rewarded me with tremendous adventures, awe inspiring travels, incredible scenery on a daily basis, and a challenging & rewarding lively hood. 2010: Have spent two years studying a new business venture to retire on trading the FX Markets (Foreign Exchange of Currencies globaly). Have put in literally every spare minute learning this business with countless hours practice trading. Gone live trading with an account with intentions of selling off my other business end of 2010 and retiring trading full time. More time and freedom to travel. My favorite activity. This business is all computer based. I can work anywhere in the world with internet access. Very nice.
