Ronald's Story
Ronald's schools include Cathedral High School. He later attended CSULA. He works(ed) at LAUSD. After leaving Cathedral I attended CSULA where I received my B.A. in Child Development. I went on to obtain my elementary teaching credential & began my teaching career in 1980 working for 3 years at St. Benedict's in Montebello. I then started with LAUSD in 1983 where I taught for 25 years at Hoover Elementary in the Pico-Union area of Los Angeles. I ended my career finally teaching 6 more years with Carlson Home/Hospital School. I am now just retired & have been living in Eagle Rock for 22 years. There is/was a core group of Cathedral alumni I have kept in touch with. I have always enjoyed music & still attend concerts now with 2 nephews who have taken me under their musical wings & have exposed me to the contemporary music scene of today. hew Adam who is a school psychologist is more of an idie music fan. I have written since my early Cathedral days & had 2 of my poems in our senior yearbook. I have written a memoir which I hope to get published along with one children's story. I have several published poems & pieces on Carayan Press. I do a bible study here in Eagle Rock at St. Dominic's parish, work in my agave/cactus garden, and collect Chicano Art. I have amassed a small collection of local hispanic artists that include former alumnus Joey Terrill who lives in the Santa Fe Arty colony, Carlos Almaraz, Yolanda Gonzalez, Jose Galvez, Ricardo Valverde etc. I do volunteer work for "The Wall Las Memorias" project that was founded by another Cathedral alumnus Richard Zaldivar & have been putting a name each year on the wall since 2003. Life is a gift & with extreme gratitude I live with many trials now behind me & move forward toward the magic and wonder of my future possibilities.
