Ronald's Story

Life Some people in High School wonder what ever happend to me after High School. I did graduate from High School, but the school would not allow me to go to the prom, on the senior trip, and finally walk the stage on graduation day to get my diploma. So I packed up my gear and went to the Army while you guys were graduating from Yuba Duba. I was in the Army for 3 years and I left out the Army with an Honorable discharge. After the Army I came back to Yuba Duba and try to find work around here. I would like to say that was a bad decision on my part, but you always learn from your mistakes. Let's say that I was lost in my life and I took a 4 year vacation doing some stupid things around town. I worked on and off, doing backward things, getting in trouble off and on, and other things that held me back from my destiny. I finally had an eye opening experience a year ago to this day. I was in a very bad car crash on the 5th street bridge. That experience made me thought that I need to start doing something with my life, because that crash I was in the police said I should not survive. So now I am attending Yuba College and I am majoring in Anthropology (Archeology) and planning to transfer to UC Berkeley. If I do not get accepted there my back up school is CSU Sacramento. I'm just happy to be here now and I have a ambition to succed in education and I want to contribute back to society. Some of my family and friends ask me if I was happy with my life right now and would you change anything about it in the past. I always tell them that I am happy with my life because it made me a stronger person and I would not change a minute of it. I know who is my true friends, the back stabbers, and just the people who smile in front of your face and talk about you when your back is turned. Now, I go to school (Yuba College)2005-2007, I work at my home (studying)MGI Bill, and I do not own a home yet, but I plan on using my VA Loan after I finish getting my Degree and I have no kids. They always say that the average adult starts their career at the age of 30 so I still have time. Mi...Expand for more
litary Well I joined the Army June 23, 1998 and I went to Fort Jackson, South Carolina for boot camp/ait. My MOS was 63-b10 that was heavy duty diesel mechanic working on 5 tons to hummers. After boot camp/ait the Army stationed me at Fort Hood, Texas for my first tour of duty. I stayed at Fort Hood, Texas for about 6 months and the company I was assigned to was HHC 13th Signal Batallion. The company had order's to send one soldier to Bosnia for a 6 month tour. No one in the company did not want to volunteer to go to Bosnia and one night I got real drunk and said to my self what the hell I go to Bosnia. So the next morning I had a good hangover and went down to the motorpool and said to my sergeant that I volunteered to go to Bosnia. The next couple of weeks I was getting preped to go to Bosnia for 6 months. They sent me to Fort Bening, Georgia to get trained on how to deal with local Bosnia's, searching bomb's on vehicles, searching land mine's, and other evasive tactic's. We were suppose to be their for 2 week's, but no they had us there for 6 weeks. Finally our order's came down from the top to go to Bosnia. We finally arrived in Bosnia and our order's said that we suppose to be there for 6 months. I was stationed at Camp Morgovern for 9 months and I was stuck on a very cold hill for 1 month. For our R&R they send us to Budapest, Hungary for 1 week and that was a fun experience. After the Army promised us that we suppose to be there for 6 months, but we actually stayed there 4 months more than we suppose to be there. We finally had our order's to go back to the State's. That was one of the happiest moments I had in my life hearing that we are coming back to the United State's. I finished my remaing tour of duty at Fort Hood, Texas and I made some friends when I was in the Army for 3 years that was from all over the United States. I had good moments and even bad moments when I was in the Army. But, I would like to say that I would not change anything I did in the Army because it amde me what I am today. No one is never perfect in this fast pace world we live in today.
