Ronald's Story

Life I graduated in 72 from Seattle U with a BA in mechanical engineering (a little late but at least I made it). I got my Masters in math in 84. I work for Boeing as an electrical engineer for Integrated Defense Systems in Kent. I specialize in computer modeling & when I'm not at Boeing sitting at my computer, I'm home sitting at my Mac(computer). In the 70s, I built and drove circle track cars at Spanaway Speedway. That was a rush. When I was through with driving I continued to design cars for other drivers for several years. I designed a car for an SCCA driver in 81 that competed against Paul Newman on SIR's road track. My friend Rick came in 4th and Paul came in 7th that year. I like to invent stuff, and I'm currently working on a multi-megawatt generator of my design that can be direct coupled to a gas turbine engine. The next generation of ground imaging radar is going to need several megawatts of power to be able to generate the image resolution and ground penetration that is needed to combat terrorism. I have written 21 patent disclosures. One has been patented and 5 more are in the process of being patented. (I have not seen any royalties yet). I have a machine shop in my garage to build prototypes of my designs. Between working for Boeing (this is my fourth time) I have designed a container-handling vehicle for dock side support, 4 hard rock boring machines for tunneling and mining, and 3 logging towers including support equipment. I have also designed and built 3 automated manufacturing facilities for making insulated panels. I have also designed m...Expand for more
any mechanical devices for small companies including a gearbox for the Miss Budweiser Hydroplane (1981 season when they won 100% of their races). In the 80s, I did a lot of photography work. I specialized in model's portfolios and I shot portfolios for several Seattle agencies. I also shot portfolios for a Sea Gal and a Budweiser Girl. I don't do much photography work anymore because of arthritis. I married my current wife (Linda) January 1-19-81, after Kathy died of cancer in August of 80. Linda has a Masters in business administration from Purdue. I had two girls by Kathy (Sheri & Rhonda) & Linda has a girl & boy (Felicia & Michael). The kids are all out of the house now so that leaves us with 5 Cats (Persians), a monkey (Red Handed Tammarin) named "PJ". We have 9 grandchildren & one great-grandchild (Gabriel (Beanie) Hongach born Feb. 2, 2010). Linda is a literary and music writer. I produced & published a CD of her music in 94-5. It was up to me to market the CD so distribution sucked. Linda's literary work is very good. She has been published several hundred times and has enough unpublished poetry to her name that she could fill a book. She is also a concert quality musician on the Piano and is very good at almost any stringed instrument. Her piano skills are so good that I enjoy just kicking back and listening to her practice. Linda also built herself a web site MonkeyKisses where she sells monkey diapers and other things MONKEY. I went on disability from Boeing in Nov. 2010 & retired in May of 2012. We now live in Bonney Lake, just off Hwy 410.
