Ronald's Story
Hi all of my old classmates, gee where has the time gone? Haven't left Altoona (except for a short time in the military) I moved to Altoona I think in the middle of 1963 from Huntingdon, Pa. Being from such a small town I couldn't believe the bright city lights and stores in Altoona. So many mom-pop stores, gas stations and of course bars.
I had many good times in high school lots of dances and splash hops and just standing in front or inside our favorite mom-pop stores. Mine was Icoveties(spelling) on the corner of 12th st and 7th ave.
We didn't need drugs or alcohol back then to have fun just a can of pop and a few friends did it for us. I can't believe the kids in high school today. I about fall over when I see the way they dress and the language that they use. I thought that I was public enemy #1 back in 65 when they threw me out (1st person) to have long hair, check out my grad. picture. Made me cut it before I could get back in school. if they did that today they would be sued.
Well enough of my ramblin', I got married to my high school sweetheart Margie Wolfe. Had a son and daughter together, got 4 grandchildren. I opened up a couple of small 2-3 people businesses until I found my true love. And if anyone out they remembers me they know that it was MOTORCYCLES. Had a mot...Expand for more
orcycle shop for awhile closed it because of personal problems but kept my fingers in the business for many more years.
Can't ride anymore because of a back injury hell I can't do much of anything anymore but I keep on tryin'. Wish I could turn back time to 1965 had a lot of good friends that have left us for the great beyond. Haven't been to a class reunion yet but I will be going to the one being held in the summer of 2010. I have to see some of my old classmates before time marches on without some of us.
Sorry about bouncing around in my conversation here but I keep remembering things and not especially in the order that I want to type. I used to tell my kids about dances and the splash hops that we used to go to and their first question was *what's a splash hop?* I tried to dance the other night well the old back let me do about 10 moves and I had to sit down. I don't think that either of my kids ever went to a dance what a shame for them.
I just joined here I see a couple of old classmates that I might send them a little *hello* been to long between the *hellos*. Haven't been married for quite some time now, maybe I can start up a conversation with someone on here in the same situation. HEY ONE CAN NEVER TELL can one? Looking forward to many of my old friends contacting me.
