Ronald's Story
Life
My career Was as a civilian Engineer working for the Air
Force at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH.
I started in the Flight Dynamics Laboratory developing new
concepts and technologies to display the information a pilot
needs to fly the aircraft and perform his mission.
In 1965 I transferred to the Engineering Division of the
Aeronautical Systems Division. I was responsible for
managing the design and development of the cockpit/crew
stations for new aircraft being developed. Those
responsibilities included the layout of components to insure
the crew members were fully accommodated, layout of controls
and displays, Escape systems(ejection seats), Life support
equipment(oxygen systems for example) and survival equipment
so the pilot who has to bail out can survive and be rescued
once he is on the ground.
I retired from Civil Service at age 55 in 1993 and became much more active in volunteer work,...Expand for more
such as Boy Scouts. I also developed some new interests that, I hope, will help me remain mentally active in my advancing age. My major interest now is writing. I have written some autobiographical stories, fictional short stories, poetry and, my major project, "the great American novel." Don't hold your breath waiting to see them on the bookshelves. It will be a long time, if it ever occurs, but I am enjoying the effort.
School
I began school at Lynch Elementary
School in Center Township,
Vanderburg County, Evansville, IN.
I started in the first grade, since
Lynch did not have Kindergarten.
When I completed the third grade
Lynch was merged with McCutchanville
School, with grades 1 to 3 at Lynch
and 4 thru 8 at McCutchanville, so
I transferred to McCutchanville when
I began the fourth grade. Completed
grade school in 1952
After graduation from grade school,
I went on to F. J. Reitz High School
Graduated from Reitz in 1956.
