Ronald's Story
Life
After graduating from DePauw I did graduate work at Harvard, obtaining my PhD in 1966 in modern European history with an emphasis upon the Habsburg Monarchy. Since September 1966 I have been on the staff at the University of Connecticut, where I continue to teach my Habsburg course in retirement. I travel to Vienna often, once primarily for research, now for recreation - music, museums, architecture, and friends. t Hartford, where I live with my long-time partner, Charles Linn (Amherst '85) in a large house that we can almost afford. I continue to drive on Sundays east of the Connecticut River to Willimantic to attend St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where I am currently Senior Warden. My terms ends, however, in January 2007, and unfortunately it's possible that St. Paul's won't last too much after that. These are not good times for liberal Episcopal churches in run-down New England mill towns. Alas.
