Roni's Story

Life Hey all you old people... ouch, that's gotta sting!!! Well, I'm turning 37 again this year, and I don't mind sharing that little bit of misinformation with anyone who asks. Believe me... it's going to be another great year. I'm still married to that boy I met my junior year in high school. After 27 years together, he's still a boy, just bigger... and fluffier. We have 4 gorgeous kids, a 20 yr old son, a 16 yr old daughter, and 12 yr old twins, a boy and girl. We still live in Woodcrest, here in sunny Southern Cali, and we still have it all, just more of it... 8 dogs, 3 cats, 3 horses, 2 lovebirds and the Cockatoo from hell. My huzband is the athletic director/math teacher at a high school in OC, and I am still a 'stay at home mom'. Whoever came up with that term must have been high, because I can hardly sit down, let alone stay at home. Right now, my oldest daughter is 'le athlete extraordinaire'. So, we spend a lot of time at her various tournaments. She plays high school and club soccer and volleyball, and is running track. That takes up about 9 days a week!!! We just got back from a tournament in Las Vegas. Aside from my food poisoning, it was alright. I spent most of my (non puking) hours shopping... go me! We're confident that our older girl will be picked up. It's just tough choosing the 'right' school. Of course, you know the guys have to be hot, right? Last year she wanted to get a scholarship to become a cosmetologist!!! Can you believe it? I about died! She has since changed her aspirations to, now, becoming a CSI. Okay, that's cool! The 'youngers', as they are known, play volleyball, soccer and baseball. Their schedules are a bit more forgiving and, for that, I am thankful. The 'bad boy' is sweet, adorable, and wicked funny. Anything for a laugh, and if someone gets hurt... well, all the better (yes, he has a broken arm... who's laughing now?). The 'not so little' girl, on the other hand, is really cute (of course) and wic...Expand for more
ked mean. I'm not joking, she's a beast! She's not intimidated by anyone. She plays on a volleyball team with 15-16 yr old girls. My oldest son (when he's not riding his motorcycle or at the river) is in college to become a pharmacist. I'm so proud... tear! Personally, I feel as if my life has come to a standstill, like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. That's not, necessarily, a bad thing, just a thing. I spend a lot of time looking back. I wish I had been more outgoing and less afraid of what people thought. I wish that I would have danced with every boy who mustered up the courage to ask me. I wish that I would have gone out for track and ran on the relay team. I wish I would have been less afraid of success and, simply, gone for it. You just can't get back those years. So, you gotta do it now and do it the best that you can! This aint no stinkin' dress rehearsal, you know? I have instilled that lesson in each of my children. They will have no regrets, no missed opportunities, and, hopefully, very few disappointments. I'm living that now and I find it very liberating. I'm more open minded, more confident, and less competitive. I have been blessed with incredible friends and family, and I make sure to always let them know how much they mean to me. Perhaps, today will be the day 'the other shoe drops'. Hmmmm, maybe it will be a jimmy choo, a manolo, or ooooh a new soccer cleat! I can hardly wait! So, I'm gonna go and put on something pretty, shave my legs and paint my toes a sparkling garnet.. gotta be ready! You never know what's going to be coming your way! I hope that your lives are filled with the riches of friendship and family, that you are blessed with good health, that you love and are loved unconditionally, and that you are able to enjoy happiness and fulfillment in all that you do. Best wishes to each and every one of you. I look forward to hearing from my old friends, and hope to see you all, once more. Bye for now - Roni
