At the ripe old age of fifteen, I began working as a volunteer at a hospital in Marin County. It was then I learned of the horrific circumstances that confront terminally and catastrophically ill children and their families when health insurance companies, motivated by profit margins, refuse to underwrite life saving medical procedures. Consequently, I swore that I would do something to help alter the course of future patients. Realizing (finally) that I was gay, it was best to get out of school and maybe be around people who were like myself? My mistake. Regardless, to fortify my abilities and skills, graduating from highschool at the age of fifteen, I went on to attend medical and law school after a brief stint in the armed forces which helped to underwrite my education. Since that time, we haven¿t lost a case or a patient. Now as a ¿chief medical case manager for high profile cases¿ (celebrities and officials), these relationships afford us the ability to underwrite the care of children whose access to health care would have been extremely limited otherwise.
