Ronnie's Story
After graduation I joined the U. S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. It was an amazing ride and I wouldn't trade a minute of it for anything.
My duties included four tours with the U. S. Marines, First Recon Battalion TET Offensive '68-69, 2nd Force Troops Beirut, 2nd FSSG Camp LeJeune NC, Blue Angels, Seal Team Five, Sea And Rescue Key West, several air wing squadrons, three submarines, Senior Enlisted academy at the Naval War College, Newport RI, Desert Shield and Desert Strom and retired onboard the USS Nimitz (CVN-68) on Veterans Day after a five year tour. he zero pilot was shot in my office.) Somewhere in there I met and married a navy nurse, which turned out to be the smartest move I ever made. Kathleen left the Navy to have our first son.
After the military I started a few businesses along the way. A night club, a beach service (umbrellas, jet skis. pontoon boats) in Destin, even dabbled in real estate for awhile. Did quality control for DirecTV, then got out of the job market when social security kicked in.
Nowadays I spend my time between Destin where I retired, and a little horse farm in AL. My wife, Kathleen and I love it here and will celebrate our 41st anniversary on Aug 18.
