Ronnie's Story

I joined the Marine Corps shortly after attending CTC under the "scholarship" program (where they would send me back to finish my degree if I had completed flight school successfully and get augmented into the "regular" Marine Corps). I did, and they did. After I got my wings, I was stationed on the West Coast/Camp Pendleton, CA as a Huey pilot. After a tour with the grunts as a forward air controller, they sent me home to complete my degree. After school, I transitioned to the KC-130 aircraft and got to fly the airplane in the US, the Far East, the Middle East, Australia, North Africa and Europe. After a couple of pumps to Okinawa, I endured my first tour in the ultimate puzzle palace, the Pentagon, Washington, DC. From there to Cherry Point, NC, where I was fortunate enough to be named commanding office...Expand for more
r of VMGR-252, and got to participate in a little skirmish called Desert Storm. Brussels Belgium was next where I was chief of staff for the NATO Naval Board for Standardization. My second tour in the Pentagon came after a detour for the Naval War College in Newport, RI. This tour at the Puzzle Palace was as Deputy Chief of Staff for Legislative Affairs (whew!). I retired out of the Corps in 1998 and Moved to Henderson, Texas, where I am a stockbroker/financial planner. My two older children, Laura and Chip are married and both live in Salado, TX (and have given me 5 beautiful grandchildren), and the two younger girls, Kristen and Kimberly are attending Texas Tech -- one an undergraduate and the older in law school. I attended the 40th class reunion, and had a great time. Looking forward to the next one!
