This as MOORE's S-1 Personnel Specialist for the 1st Battalion U.S. 7th Cavalry Regiment of ~CUSTER~ Fame. ..This Battle turned out to be the 2nd Battle of the LITTLE BIG HORN for the U.S. 7th Cavalry Regiment ...only this time WE won. The Battle of IA DRANG-1965 soon became known as the Defining Moment of the Vietnam War. ...For weeks after our Battle I personally typed up Lt. Col. HAL G. MOORE's several hundred handwritten -Letters of Condolences- to the Families and Loved Ones of our IA DRANG-1965 Battle Killed & Wounded in Action hero Soldiers. ...For, you see, Letters were always our link back home one way or the other ...and are the focus of the inspiring ending to "WE WERE SOLDIERS."
