Roosevelt's Story
My whirlwind Life:
I am an Urban Griot, Baba Evans, who tell real life sagas about people and their every day circumstances.
I have self-published five novels of urban fiction, Choice of a Lifetime, The Pastor's Letter, While the Village Sleeps, Just A Picture in a Frame, and my latest, An ExtraOrdinary Affair. The last few years have been wonderful for me as well. I was honored by the Early Childhood Committee for my work in the field of adult education, Parental Involvement, and especiall with young fathers. More importantly,I was featured in a Reading Is Fundamental educational video, "Fathers Roles/Men's voices" and the "I am your child" series on what it means to be a young fathers.
Recently, I have accepted a position as "parent educator" with the Toyota Family Literacy Program. I work with parents of pre-...Expand for more
K through 3rd grade students and their adult relatives.
I am semi-retired, still writing novels, and conducting workshops.
I always wanted to be famous when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a misguided idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. I am famous inside my community of friends and writing associates.
I look forward to a new year with new friends and aquaintences.
oh by the way, my books can be purchased at Barnes and Noble, Borders bookstores, and through my web page, babaevans dot com
I just returned, March 1-3 2009,from attending the National Center for Family Literacy conference in Orlando, Florida. It was three days of literacy workshops. I conducted a workshop entitled: "When Dad Come's to School." the workshop was well attended by agency and teachers who work with adult literacy.
