Rosalie's Story

I am in Texas with my three children and grandchildren. It is wonderful being a grandparent. Being so close to their home makes it easy to have them in my life on a daily basis. I have the opportunity to lend a hand and edify their lives and visa versa. After High School I enrolled in Solano Community College and attended two sememsters. I had fun playing Powder Puff Football and became a Star Player--it was a lot of fun and having a bunch of my friends on the sidelines hooping and hollering as they rattled cow bells gave me added spirit to give it my all. It was a blast---mudd and all! After community college I went off to Portland, Oregon to attend Columbia Christian College. It was such a wonderful experience despite flunking out. More happened at C.C.C. in one year than my four years at Armijo Joint Union High---no longer the shy Wall Flower. I was in a stage play, worked in the kitchen to give me pocket change and book store money, got tagged as dorm hair stylist and make-up artist, raided the boys dorm with some friends and got put on weekend detention and missed the Big Beach Fun Weekend (we also broke into the boys bathroom and greased all of the toliet seats and webbed it all over with string, escaped through a side window in broad daylight and didn't get caught)I ate my first bite of chocolate after being several years without(Only that once--allergies---and I didn't die!), joined a Sorority, was nominated Home Coming Queen, fell in love (exchange of class rings--so cool) and flunked out because I was too busy with other things, and doing my homework in the hall of the dorm while everyone else was sleeping was not much fun! All in all it was a wonderful and growthful experience. Next stop was Seattle, Washington. I loved it there. I went to stay the summer there with a classmate with intentions of attending another year at Columbia Christian College but when my classmate left for Portland I stayed behind, moved out of her parents home and found a studio apartment downtown for $50.00 a month and it had a grand piano--so cool! It was such a good feeling to be on my own. Some funny and embarrassing things happened--I was so naive....Expand for more
July 13, 2009 I'm back!!!!! I guess I left you hanging; but, I get a bit tired of thinking about what was and want to spend more time focusing on the now of life. The flow of my life has not been easy and I accept and appreciate all that I have experienced while living it because it has given me my three wonderful children, my daughter-in-law, and my three darling grandchildren (who keep me going and striving to be healthy in every way). The wisdom gained has taught me more than I ever imagined. I am still a deep thinker; but, am no longer shy. My personality is a mixture of laid back yet assertive, and at times can be intense. I love conversations that playfully promote verbal banter. I also enjoy conversations that share one's inner core and knowledge and am very curious about human nature and how things work. A great appreciation for life no matter what is presented allows wisdom to expand and always reminds me to have a light and frivolous side that loves to laugh and throw caution to the wind just long enough to enjoy the freedom it gives from the responsible realities. Of course when it comes to my grandchildren wisdom gently whispers¿ ¿Love, teach, then tease, joke, and laugh until you all cry and become breathless.¿ I openly recognize God's existence and am aware of God's active role in life and thank Him without ceasing for His unconditional love. I try hard to give greater focus to intrinsic values than those of an extrinsic nature without damning those who would choose visa-versa (not a live-and-let-live way of thinking; but, more of a watch-listen-understand-and-love thinking.) Now that I am partially disabled and had to take an early retirement (so-to-speak) I find myself wanting to be involved in creative endevors again. I used to write, paint, sculpt, etc. but wasn't able to do such for a few recent years due to the new disabilities. I guess some how my brain or my body---or maybe both---accepted and then adjusted to the disability differences and has me on my way to a more enjoyable and creative lifestyle---Yahoo!!!! I'll let you go, Rosalie P.S. "I'll be back." Hummm--now who authored that line???? LOL!
