Rosalie's Story

Life Hi friends! I come to Livermore often and think of all the fun times I had growing up there and going to school at Granada High, Mendenhall and Portola Elementary. The early years of the dirt parking lot...Boot Hill, The Donut Wheel and the VA hospital, great sports teams and games, parties out on Vasco Road, working at Del Valle Lake, Les Browning's band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Uriah Heap, Bay Rum, and summer nights on First Street but mostly all of the friends I made over the years. I hope we can re-connect and share some memories. I am in Walnut Creek and work in Child Support. I am divorced and my daughter, Rachel is married to Mike and they have a daughter of their own, my little Natalie. I have a dog and cat, a couple of fish and get outside as much as possible to do anything fun under the sun or just relax inside and cook and watch movies. Send me an email and tell me what you've been up to too! Rosalie Part II I guess a couple people would like some more detailed info as to what I have been up to for the past 30 some odd years....you may be sorry you asked, get a cup of coffee.....In my last year at Granada I was working at Lake Del Valle for East Bay Regional Parks that spring/mid summer of '77 and my mother told me she was getting married again and we would be moving again, so I got a roommate & apartment out by the Lab 2 weeks before we graduated from high school, I worked for Klassic Vans. I had a boyfriend who talked me into going into the Army with him, he was 23 and just got out and wanted to re-enlist...I joined to be trained as Military Police but when I got my orders and my active duty date, he had me put in cook school, told me there were no openings and I could get transferred over later (and I believed him), I was in the delayed entry program and like young girls do, I changed my mind about going to cook school and waiting for the MP to come up, I told my recruiter who was pretty casual about it at the time, took me months to get in and only a minute to get out? Months went by, I moved to Walnut Creek for better job opportunities (I didn't want to end up at the Lab under my mom's watchful eye), f...Expand for more
orgot all about the Army and then found out I was basically a deserter as my recruiter failed to let them know I wasn't coming. So I turned my self in to Oakland Army Base intending to leave after a few hours, had to jump through some hoops to say the least and months later I was out of there after a recruiter conivance case, after all I was underage when I enlisted. He got in Trouble! So off I was to be a soldier at Fort Ord, never having been to Boot Camp, while my case went through....I swear they made that movie Private Benjamin after me. It was an experience in itself since I had to learn who to salute, how to make my bed the Army way, how to wear my uniform how to address , and I had some really fun times there too. When I came home to Walnut Creek, my boyfriend and I had broken up while I was away. I had a lot of different jobs to support myself, I was an unregistered dental assistant (Dr. passed away at home), I worked at he SunValley mall in Concord selling knives and men's electric shavers, I quit when I got a chance to go on a great skiing trip...oh youth....2 weeks later when I got back I had no job...luckily a few months earlier I had interviewed for Pacific Telephone and they called for the job and I ended up working in that line of work either as a telephone operator, data inputter or mainframe technician years later. I married my husband Tim when I was 23, I met him at work when I was 20. He already had 3 children or I may had had more, I had Rachel on our 3rd wedding anniversary. (sidenote: I left out that I had a super short relationship/marriage when I was 19 Brittany Spears style, another story intself). I went back to work as a flrist at Safeway when it was time to separate from Tim, I worked here for 9 years and went to night school before getting my present job for what was then the District Attorney's office, it's now State-run. Sleeping yet? I am single and I have my grandaughter Natalie every Sunday. My daugher is 24 and wants to tattoo everybody. Natalie just started kindergarten. I tried to hit the main events, there's always lots in between! It's been an interesting life on the way to the one I planned for myself.....
