Rosanne's Story
Life
I live 3 blocks from where I grew up..talk about being rooted! Anyway, I have 25 year-old and 6 year-old sons, and live in a 100-year-old Victorian house where I love to do gardening and decorating. My art-making has been on hold for a while, but I will pick that up again when time and life are a little more conducive. My husband is a musician and an electrician, so there's a lot of music happening around our house. We have a big dog and love to go to concerts and plays, festivals, read, cook, entertain friends, watch movies and go camping and hiking.Peace to all of you, may good health and prosperity be yours.
College
I went to UCONN branch in '75, majored in Biology, saw that the whole left brain thing was not going to work for me and switched majors to art, my true calling, went on to Storrs in '96. Graduated 1980 with a BFA in Photography. Jump ahead 16 years...Went to Vermont Co...Expand for more
llege's low residency Masters program and got my MFA in Visual Art in '96.
Workplace
I've had a lot of different positions since I graduated but finally found my niche...since 1991 I've been a part-time art professor at Naugatuck Valley College, teaching drawing, design, painting, batik, Native American beadwork and print-making. Since 1996 I've been an art teacher at Holy Cross High School, full-time, teaching drawing, design, painting, print-making and sculpture, and leading the art club. I love my work and feel very grateful to have what I consider to be the best job in the world. I often have students whose parents I knew in high school..so..to you who were once, shall we say mischievous? as teens, what they say is true, what goes around comes around and you may be experiencing a little kid-karma right about now with your own teens. Don't worry, they'll turn out as well as you did!.
