Rosario's Story

Life If someone told me back when I was in high school that I would be living out in the country (20 minutes outside Corpus Christi), I would have said "Never in a million years!!!" How things change as time goes by...I live in a beautiful home surrounded by trees and tend to my husband's cows and chickens when he is out of town. (Someone has to feed the animals!!!) Life is good for this one upon a time city girl. Sept. 2009, we don't have chickens or cows here anymore, they are at the ranch in Benavides. Yeah!!!It can get stressful sometimes. School I will never forget the time I was being inducted into the Brass Buttons organization. Our peers made us dress up as certain characters and parade around the school (and do what they wanted us to do) for a whole day. I was transformed into Gene Simmons of KISS thanks to Mike Acosta and his fellow KISS group members. I was given a costume and make-up to wear (as well as a wig). The platform thigh high boots were a size 10 (way to big for me). At about 6:00 a.m. staring at the pictures Mr. Simmons, I began to transform my self. I didn't know much about him and I quickly learned what he was known for as throngs of school mates yelled for me to stick my tongue out. I had no idea what they were talking about. Someone filled me in on the running joke. Anyhow, a picture of our Brass Buttons escapade made it into the yearbook, and I love to ask people to identify me on that page. They can't cause I look like a guy. And by the way, Louie Lozano is posing as a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader on the same page. The question is who is the girl in that page. Check it out!!! College My college years were not ...Expand for more
that of a normal person. You see my college years span a lifetime of nearly 20 years (off and on). I had many, many distractions over the years but never, never forgot my promise to my parents to finish my education. So from the year I graduated, 1979 until 1998 when I finally graduated from TAMIU with a degree in education, I not only became "educated" but I learned what "Life" was about. Hard lessons only to make us wiser. Life today is still a "learning" process. That is a given. I used my education major to teach Biology at a High School in Corpus for five years. I am now at home tending to the needs of my family. Memories of college years, oh too numerous to count. Too many years, too many friends that helped mold and shape me into who I am today. Workplace 2009 My work now is with the neighboring Catholic Church, St. Vivian's. I have the role as the religious education coodinator simply because there is no one else with the time or energy to do it. A few of us here in Petronila have been involved in educating the local youth in religious ed for several years now and we are just trying to get organized. I teach the Confirmation classes and help organize the program for the year. My other workplace is my home of course. That never ends! Hobbies 2009 I enjoy attending a prayer group on Thursdays at Most Precious Blood in Corpus Christi. They are called The Women of the Word and my life has changed dramatically since I became part of the group. I also have become part of the Journey to Damascus Community and enjoy serving the Lord in any way that I can. Because of my love for the Lord, He has given me a desire to journal and create art.
