Rose's Story

Life As with everyone...life since high school has certainly been a fascinating one. Married too young (while still in college), did the career woman of the 90's thing, traveled, lived in some great cities Dupont Circle, Washington, DC, Fort Lauderdale, FL and Los Altos, CA (Ah, living life in Silicon Valley before the dotcom crash), had two marvelous children, divorced my husband of 16 years, moved back to Virginia and now, find myself back "home". Wow. Have you seen what they have done to the Pembroke area? Amazing. (But Don Slater and Bruce Rader are still on WAVY 10...) After a long career in women's retail, I was a DM for Talbots, (with the red doors?) and a shorter career in the men's clothing business, (I ran a custom shop and did some marketing and advertising for a local men's clothing store.), I became a freelance writer (published in the Virginian Pilot, online magazines, national men's magazines and still dabble in writing from time to time. I just write about life. Just life.), I have also been a retail and Image consultant and a Social Media Writer, in addition to being a PTA President and single mother.. Currently I am working in the Virginia Beach County Public School System. . I remarried in 2009, after being single for so long, but divorced again shortly th...Expand for more
ereafter. I truly believe some people just are not meant to be married, which isn't a bad thing, I promise. I have two daughters, (that in 2016), are 20 years old and 16 years old. They are without a doubt, the light of my life, the laughter in my soul. The true reason of my being. My oldest daughter attends MIT in Cambridge, MA, where she is studying to be a Chemical Engineer. She is intelligent, gorgeous, a little wacky and runs every day. My younger daughter is a junior in high school, she just finished taking AP Latin last year will an Officer of the SCA this year. She is also intelligent and gorgeous, but she has a sarcastic streak and is wickedly funny. I am the luckiest mother in the world to have such amazing daughters. I also have a spoiled rotten Boston Terrier named Moose, who has a quirky personality and a sweet baby face. I love him unconditionally, even though he did not take Latin last year. Life is good. Not extremely glamorous, but good. Peaceful. And mine. Here's one for you. I still know all the words to our Lake Taylor Titans fight song ("We are going to tear them apart. We've got spirit and we've got heart...) I sing it every time I past LTHS on the Interstate. How's that for some trivia? Stay tuned That's my life in 500 words or less.
