Rose's Story
Life
I was more of a loner than a joiner in High School so I didn't mingle much. Met my first husband at 16 and was with him in school. Married at 18, two boys by 20, divorced by 23...
I moved to Idaho City in 1973 and am here still, with a couple of times I left to help my sister halfway between New Meadows and Riggins, and I spent 6 months in Mexico with friends who bought a hotel, no tourist area though.
I always come back to Idaho City because this is where people like me, a bit different, can be ourselves. It is hard to explain because we really do live differently. No shopping daily, not much traffic but opportunity to be unique.
I have owned and operated a shop here, was Editor of the Idaho World, ran the Ice Cream parlor and on occasion worked in Boise.
I am now on my fifth year as Deputy Court Clerk, am serving my 3rd year as School Board Treasurer and my 3rd year on City Council..I love where I am but I also love what Boise has to offer and take full advantage of everything I enjoy doing. But most of all I love my home. I am close to owing it free and clear and while it is not...Expand for more
much it is mine and has wonderful potential.
So I do not have a Harley, don't go camping, but I like my life. I have been divorced from my 3rd husband (I really do believe in marriage) for almost 13 years now. I am raising a thrid son from my 3rd marriage, he is 15 now and an exceptional young man and I am so busy with his life I don't get lonely.
I don't know why I am even updating my profile since I wasn't a mingler or a partier and am still not.
What I am is content, but I am always trying to make things better. I sell on Ebay, I have a business license that I may do something with but I keep it active, sort of grandfathered in, just in case Idaho City ever changes much.
I would love to hear from others because I am very interested in most things, including knowing what we have all become, or in my case am still "becoming".
Sincerely,
Rose A. Washam (Gudgus)
p.s. I have no pictures of me in high school, my Courier was destroyed in my first divorce. My face is the same but I have put on many pounds, which may be a testament to the fact that I am a good cook, and enjoy cooking.
