Rosemary's Story
Life
Right now I live on the Central Coast of California. It's not too much different where I am, from Porterville. It gets up to 105 + during the summer and freezes during the winter. We have fog, depending on where you are and what time of the year. It can be foggy here and 30 miles south over the Cuesta grade into San Luis Obispo it is as clear as day. Then during the spring, just the opposite. The greatest thing about living here, besides the view, is when it's 102 + here, you go over the grade and it's so cool. The closer to the ocean you get the cooler it is.
I have 3 beautiful daughters,my youngest of which turned 20 in May,and they too live here (mostly with me,but not always, lol). It's hard to imagine my little girls all grown up,cause it seems like just yesterday when they went from a crawl to a run to yapping their heads off.
Now that I'm free, so to speak,(as we all know, no matter how old kids are, they are never far behind),I'm thinking about moving up to Tahoe. My aunt lived there and I've always loved it. I've never driven a bus in the snow, but there's always a first time for everything,so why not.
As of 9-27-06, I'm an Oma(gr...Expand for more
andma), of a beautiful little girl. She turned 1 this year, and what an exciting year it has been. Now she's starting to walk and trying to talk. Being an Oma is so wonderful!!
Workplace
I'm a transit bus driver/road supervisor/maintenance clerk, and I love it.I don't drive anymore unless we're short of drivers, but I use to drive 165 miles a day between Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo, and have I seen my share of accidents. I've found out just how rude and inconsiderate drivers are. I meet so many people from all walks of life, from the homeless to attorneys. Everyone complains about how bad driving in the fog is here. I tell them they haven't seen anything till they try driving in the San Joaquin Valley Tule fog. This is a piece of cake. I'm out in the shop with the mechanics, making sure my buses get serviced on time, and decide which bus goes to what driver. We have 18 - 40ft. Gilligs and 13 - E-350 and E-450 vans we use for a Dial-a-Ride type of service. We also now handle the servicing at 4 other locations: 2 Trolley's, 5-30 ft. Gilligs and 5-E-450 D.A.R. vans, and we definately could use another mechanic or 2. Too much to keep up with now.
