Rosemary's Story
Stayed in Boston area after high school, went to BU (psychology), then a couple of years in a Boston brokerage firm, then graduate school at MIT (biochemistry), then straight off to France as a postdoctoral fellow (Pasteur Institute) and I've been here ever since. Married a Frenchman (with a Chinese last name!), have 3 daughters 15, 16, 20, and lots of cats (we serve as a foster home for cats awaiting adoption). For the past 20 yrs I've run a medical/pharmaceutical translation business (working at home, which is ideal for the kids). Lived right in the 5th arrondissement in Paris for 11 yrs and for past 12 years in the close suburbs. I love my life in France. ove being in Europe, close to so many other places to visit, and it's kind of fun being a "foreigner" (because despite my 23 years here I still have an American accent when I speak French, so everyone knows right away that I'm not French). I have a network of both French and American friends. In fact, there are tons of Americans living here, and it gives me a link to my home country. But I've been here so long I'd probably have to adjust if we moved back to the US, although we travel there twice a year to visit friends/family and my roots will always be in the US. We have lots of American visitors stay with us, so contact me for those coming to Paris. I'd love to meet up with old friends, in addition to the ones I keep in touch with.
