Ross's Story

After HS I went to Western Michigan for one year, then to KCC for a year. I got married in 1969 to an intelligent, beautiful, and caring woman. I then went into the Navy for over three years; we lived in San Francisco, George (UGH), and VA. My daughter was born in Portsmouth Naval Hospital. We moved back to MI and I went to MSU. While at MSU my mother passed away. I graduated with my BS, MS, and PhD. I did a post-doc at Argonne National Laboratory just outside of Chicago. We move to Ohio (near Cleveland) with my first real job. I was promoted and we moved to Dallas TX. My company sold my division to OxyChem and we moved to Buffalo (UGH) NY. Within 18 months we were back in Dallas TX...Expand for more
(1988). I worked for Texas Instruments as a Toxicologist. I had been working with animals and at TI I worked with people. So, I went back to school and received my MPH from the Medical College of Wisconsin. Then, after 14-years they laid me off. I got a job back at OxyChem in 2001. In 2002 my wife passed away very suddenly just before Mother's Day. Later that year I was laid off again. I then came to the Austin area to be near my daughter. She is now a pediatrician. She 'finally' got married and I am a grandfather to a sweet little boy. They are teaching him English, Chinese, and American Sign Language. I am currently working to become a teacher in middle school; teaching science.
