Roxanne's Story
I absolutely loved MT. It will be so much fun to see all of you again. I keep in touch with some of my old friends from high school and childhood, such as, Laurie & Kevin Kennedy, Laurie Smith, Tom Dodsworth, Lorraine Morgan, Diane Tutt, Jean Burnson, Denise Skavlem and so many more...Mike Litteral's DAYSTAR Co. even put in new Milgard Windows in our home. That was a fun surprise...
I married Dennis Ecklund in 1974. We had two children Chris and Brianne. Sadly, we divorced in 1981. I worked a majority of my 20s at Weyerhaeuser as an Administrative Secretary , Project Support Specialist and Executive Secretary all in IS.
In 1983 I took a job at Hillhaven Corp. in the IS Technical Support Center as an Analyst where I met Michael Doidge who is my current husband. We married in 1985 and have been married now for 27 years. Mike and I have raised 4 children: 3 girls and 1 boy. Mike was a career Naval Officer and retired in 2005 after 31 years in the Navy as an 05. We had wonderful opportunities at living all over the world and experiencing different cultures.
After Mike's Naval retirement, we moved back to WA state to be with our 8 grandchildren and our families. Mike currently works as the Director of Finance and Operations at Charles Wright Academy. We have also found out that our oldest, Chris and his wife, Jenny are expecting our 9th and 10th grandchildren in November. That's right. Twins - identical boys! I am so excited. We are so pleased as our grandchildren are truly the precious gems in our crown! Life is never boring at the Doidges. God Bless and see you soon!
Redecorating my home. I love painting - walls, cabinets, furniture, pets LOL. You name it. Painting is a creative outlet and therapeutic for hectic days.
My hero would have to be my husband. He is such a kind, funny, compassionate man.
Hmmm. I love watching the older grandkids play soccer and basketball. I don't really like Reality TV. Too much drama. I have enough in my own life. My passion is color and texture.
I am very passionate about my pets. We have 1 cat - white with orange polka dots (that's right!) named Fe...Expand for more
lix the Cat, a Blenheim Cavalier King Charles named Cooper and a Black and Tan Cavalier named Petey . Love them to death!
If I could improve my home, I'd remodel my kitchen and add on a larger master suite.. My dream home would be a small cottage by the sea..
Children have such simple faith. Their trust is all encompassing. Oh, that I could be that way.
If I won $100 million, I'd give half of it to homeless shelters and Christian ministries around the world, then spend the rest on my children, grandchildren and medicine.
My current age is 57. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be grandparents. I was so completely right! In my case, that is..
When my husband retires, again, we wish to work in Christian ministry and helping the homeless. Have an inkling only as to what capacity.
My best friend would tell you I'm funny & kind, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as quiet & shy.
No, I tend to be more trendy. I gravitate to jewel tones and bright colors. They make me feel happy.
I share my home with husband and two youngest daughters, which I find fun and challenging at times.
In 10 years, I hope to be Spain. I'm going to get there by pilgrimage of the WAY OF SAINT JAMES. It begins in France..
My longest friend would be Laurie K. Larson. We met at Birney Elementary in the 5th grade and stayed very good friends up to now. I can be myself with Laurie and not be judged. I have always felt a part of her family. Laurie goes out of her way to go the extra mile.
My first job was at Value Village, where I got paid $1.60 to $1.65 an hr.. What I remember most about it is I loved the antique jewelry and old clothes that would come in..
My sister, Susie, and I were at my grandparents home. We were 3 & 4. A baby bird had fallen out of his nest and died. Susie and I got grandma's little shovel and dug a small hole in the ground beneath the tree and buried the little bird. We marked the grave and the next morning we were digging it up. My grandma came out of the house and said "What are you girls doing?" We answered "Seeing if the baby bird has gone to Heaven yet!"
