Roxanne's Story

Life Lets see...I was born in Salem, Oregon...Lived in Mill City, Oregon until i was almost 2 years old...Moved to Estacada, Oregon...Lived there until 10/01/84...Moved to Toutle, Washington...Lived there until 1989...Went to New York, New York for a year as a nanny...from there...went to Chicago, Illinous...from there went to Denver, Colorada...From there went to Dutch Harbor, Alaska, From there went to Prescott, Arizona...From there, went back to Oregon...from there went to South Dakota and have been here for almost 3 years...I am living a wonderful life and working a job that i really love...if you want to know more...just ask and I will tell.... School I started Kindergarten in Estacada, Oregon in 1973. I went to school in Estacada until four weeks into my sophmore year (that would be october of 1984.) re in Rapid City for computers. Workplace I work for a company called the COAST REHABILATATION SERVICES. We specialize in teaching the Mentally Handicapped Adults to lead as normal of a life as they can. I work in a housing unit that is total care. We are teaching them now do eat on their own, go shopping for themselves. (with help from a staff) Basicly we teach them every day tasks that you or I would take for granted. It is a lot of fun and I will never change out of this work. I have been working with the MRDD for the past 10 years now, in Rapid city, Portland, Or and now here in Seaside FYI, MRDD stands for Mentally Retarded Deficeint Disorder. All of the people work with have had lived 70% of their lives in instatutes. Now that all of the instatutes are starting to close down, the clients are now learning to live in a real home enviroment. For some that is really hard to adjust to, but they are loving it more and more each day.....
