Roy's Story

Life Sadly widowed August 2018 after 14 years with a great girl. I live just north of Nashville Tennessee, my retirement choice I moved to in 2012. Lots more year round things to go to here and lots of hot pretty singers!! I like the newer country music like Carrie Underwood just fine but there is LOTS of rock and other music here too, even classical and opera and all that because of it being Vanderbilt University in town. That college ranks right up there with Yale and Harvard and all those. Plus I finally have pro football again, the Titans, and there is major league hockey too, the Predators. I used to live in Norfolk Virginia and retired May 5,2006 from Alltel. which was a cellular and land phone company bought out by Verizon in 2009. I left KC in 1988 for Norfolk where I had been with Sprint as land telephone and paging engineer, in Norfolk I did cellular phone system central office switching work. In 2010 I was a Census supervisor and now have my 35 years work in for max social security, so probably done with work. I did miss your casinos and racetrack built after I left but Norfolk had a great beach resort with festivals plus attractions like Williamsburg, Busch gardens. I do much digital photography, scanning and beach going, we have huge resort beach here, lots to do and see in warm weather. There is even a big nudist resort. Population only about same as KC so very livable and much lower crime rate. Tons of techn...Expand for more
ical jobs here, with all the Navy HQ and all was why I came to Norfolk. You can take Carnival cruises right from downtown here and other exciting places like DC and Atlantic City are only a few hours drive. Write and tell me how your lives went and what you are doing now. Would love to hear from you! I attended the 2004 35 year reunion and 2009,2014 have lots of pictures I can send if you write. Finally met me a nice girl Julie I date steady now and brought her. I have kept her well, we don't marry because of her getting a widows pension and to keep her taxes on her income low, otherwise we would. Sadly she had a stroke and died asleep in August 2018, but had 14 wonderful years, the last 6 in Nashville. I am enjoying retirement and as I get older and go to the beach less I decided to move to Nashville and the lower price of homes made it a great choice, I remodeled and added on to a home just what I want for less than I would pay elsewhere, come see this area for a great retirement and it is just a day drive back to KC too to visit folks. Like the shows and lots there new to see and do. I liked Norfolk, but it is not year-round fun like Nashville is, and can have nasty storms from the sea where Nashville is very safe as I age. Since retired would like to see some of you from 67, 68, 69, and 70 classes. Would like to see a multiple years reunion as we all know others from 68 or 70, why exclude them???? Please write me ! --Roy
