Roy's Story
Roy is from Benton, Missouri, after having been born in Alton, Missouri. His schools include Morley, Missouri Grade School (first grade only), Benton Schools (grades 2 through 9), Ballard County, Kentucky High School (all except the first six weeks of his tenth-grade year), and Kelly High School. He later attended Missouri University. He worked in the sales department of a major soft-drink bottler-distributor franchise in the Midwest for 26 years. He retired there and moved to South Florida in year 2000. ted by Missouri University track and field coach at the time Tom Botts to walk-on at the track and field program at MU. The highlight of that running career at Mizzou was a third-place finish at the Drake Relays in 1963, in a time that stood briefly as the Mizzou school record in the two-mile run. Roy has a daughter, Michelle (Tish) and a son, Coy, who graduated from Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri. Michelle has a son, Brice, who graduated from Iowa University in Iowa City, and a daughter, Brandi (Rojas), who graduated from George Mason University in northern Virginia. Brandi has two small sons. Coy has a daughter, Dakota, who graduated from Colorado University in Boulder.
