Roy's Story
I'm originally from Spokane, Washington.
Moved to Melbourne to live with Sister in the summer of â76 for my Junior year. Tried out for the Football Team as a Quarter Back but they already had their guy.
Then as it turned out, since I was out of state one of the greatest men I have ever known Coach Canady took me to Gator land in Gainesville to go before eligibility board and after hearing my story then approved me to play⦠Since I couldnât play QB I switched to the other side as a DB and earned the nick name âKillerâ by the end of our senior year in which we only lost one game and injuryâs I played defense guard my last gameâ¦
Joined the Navy as an Avionics Tech for 6 years⦠Went on (2) West Pacâs â79 & 80â on the USS Kitty Hawk highlighted by going to Persian Gulf when Iran took the hostages⦠Spent my last 1 ½ years ...Expand for more
at the Naval Air Station in Fallon, NV which is now home of TOPGUN.
Moved to Eureka, CA after I left the service and became a Computer Center Manager at Radio Shack in â84 when the 1st personal computers hit the market⦠IBM PC, Apple II and the Tandy 1000. Moved back to the Seattle area and decided to go on the Support side of the house and got on with a Federal Contracting firm and worked IT support for the FAA in Renton and the EPA in Seattle.
Moved back to California and became the IT manager for the Military Sealift command in Oakland. Pacific Bell was looking for some Network Engineers and came on with them as a contactor in â94 and became a Network Manager in â96 and been with them now ATT ever since.
Been married for over 20 years. Have a Son and a Stepdaughter and beautiful Granddaughter and now live in Southern Illinoisâ¦
