Roy's Story
I have two sons, the eldest is now a RN at Deaconess Hospital, the youngest is now in his last year at OCU law school. Thank God they haven't been as wild as I was. Derrick my oldest son is also attending a Baptist seminary and is planning to go to India in a couple of years as a missionary. He and his wife just made me a grandpa. We have another Pemberton boy to carry on the name. Leland Pemberton!
After high school I went to OCU for a year as a piano major. At the end of that year as I was kicking and beating on one of the practice piano's cursing Beethoven, I decided to join the Navy.
Boot camp! I went to boot in Orlando. Our company had to be the worst there. We went through two company commanders in the first couple of weeks. The third was an old sub sailor and we were his last...Expand for more
group. We had it made. I was the only piano player in the boot camp choir. Got me out of alot of work. Believe me, it's hard to be a piano player in an acappella choir. Then off to A school in San Diego. I was one of the few that actually got what I put on my dream sheet. Naples Italy. Wow! Worked long hours and played hard. Still in touch with Mark Hernise, one of my old room mates. That's where I got my start with computers. After the Navy I went back to school and began programming computers in OKC for a place called comac. About five years later my brother asked me to run his finance department at his Nissan dealership. I've been in the car business ever since.
I still play piano for fun and picked up the guitar a couple of years ago. It's easier to carry around than a piano.
