Roy's Story
Teacher for 32 years in the Quad Cities. BA & MA +. Teacher Consultant in Geography, teacher mentor, designed and taught 4 grad classes for teachers about the Mississippi River on the Twilight River Boat. Was active in local and state Education Assoc. Taught k-6 Gifted and Talented, 4 and 6th grade. 4-6 grad Social studies specialist, 7th grade World Geography, Geography in Junior College.
Built own home, wood carver, digital piano player, had insurance and mutual fund licenses, had small antique business for a few years, + many different summer jobs. 7 mission trips to Costa Rica so far. Retired to southern Missouri. 10 Grandchildren. Have one daughter and family that were missionaries in China for 8 years. We have another son, a Pastor, and family living in Australia on the edge of Outback.... and a another son and family in US who is a geological and civil engine...Expand for more
er and works on setting up power plants throughout the world. Lost my older brother, Ray, to cancer when he was 53. He was a 1963 East High grad. He produced to CDs for Silverton Colorado about the mountains and miners. He was on National Geographic series singing a song he wrote..Land of White Rivers.. a couple years before he died. Very active retirement life with travel, fishing, camping, music, and church group activities with my wife Andrea (Raymond) Liljegren who graduated from East in 1965, and ( graduated from Drake U. in 1969). Interesting life...so far. We are trained ERT volunteers for Methodist UMCOR and have been active in Emmaus regional board. Have been to Australia 3 times, for a month each time, visiting my son and family. Have traveled to western China, and Thailand visiting out daughter and family. Like cruises..last one early fall to Alaska 2015.
