Ruben Dario's Story
After graduation I went to college to earn a degree and get a better job at a better salary. I found out that junior college was not high school but I persisted. When I decided to enter the University of Illinois at Chicago I had to take the S.A.T. twice to qualify as the oldest freshman in the Fall of 1995. I was confronted by a tall student who said that I wasn't the oldest freshman; he was. I didn't argue. I worked a variety of jobs in the service industry including the old telemarketing job where I found some success considering that I always had trouble speaking ...Expand for more
clearly. But on sales I didn't do as well because of the strict rule of reading verbatim, which didn't help me to acquire new sales leads.
So I learned in college and more on the job to finally make me the man I am today. I have never been married and if you remember me from our days at Wells you will know that I was hardly a catch for the girls in school. I realized that I was a late bloomer, as one lady friend called me. Around 1990 I was walking past a fitness store that had a sign that claimed that 60 was the new 40. This means that we are the new Middle-Agers!
