Life
This is the most recent picture I have of me - that's me (on the left) and my sister Alice. OH MY GOSH! It's hard to believe it's been almost 28 years since my high school graduation!
Let's see a little about me...I'm happily married to my husband the infamous Edward Arias and we live in Surprise. Although our marriage went through it's ups and downs, we finally together commited our lives to the Lord 7 years ago and our marriage has become stronger than ever! We are active members of our church. I currently serve as the church administrator and webmaster of our website...and we both are Deacons...WHO WOULD HAVE THUNK!!
We have 3 children our oldest daughter Desiree is 23 and just graduated from ASU in May 2007 with a degree in nursing, she will be working in Labor & Delivery at Banner Estrella after graduation! We also have a 17 year old daughter Tiffany, she is a Junior at DHS and very interested in journalism, so we'll see if that becomes her career choice. Our baby Jacob is going to be 12 and a total mama's boy. He is convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that he will be a veterinarian one day. We've been blessed with great kids and they all love going to church too! My stepdaughter Jennifer Arias just graduated from Ottawa University as well and received her Bachelors in communication, quite an accomplishment considering she married, had a baby, was in a near fatal car accident and lost her very best friend in between. She is a go-getter and a wonderful mom to my little grandbaby Natalie and amazing wife to her husband Hugo.
Let's see, I'm STILL in advertising and work for Advo as a Regional Account Executive. You'll know it as the "Missing Child Card" or the "ShopWise" wrap you get in your mailbox every week. ary's Food Bank and has been there for almost a year. So between church, kids and work we both stay pretty busy!
I still keep contact with some of my high school friends like Norma Valdivia, Rosemary Arias and Norma Arias (my sister-in-laws). I also run into alot of former alumni at church. It's funny because now our kids are hanging out with some of their kids...and the circle of life continues!!
I've heard of some of our former classmates that have passed on which reminds me to cherish the time I have with family and friends. I lost my childhood best friend Anna Cordero (many of you might remember her - class of '79), she passed April 21st 2004, it was a very difficult loss for me, but I still have all the memories we shared! She had a quirky sense of humor and always managed to keep me laughing.
For those of you far, far away - it's a whole new DHS out here! They tore down and rebuilt the entire high school and it is now what my daughter Tiff calls a "Concrete Prison". It is surrounded by security gates and a security guard monitoring the entrance...they did manage to keep the round gymnasium, but added some architectural features to it and it just does not look the same. My daughter Tiffany wrote an article for the DHS newspaper on how the old Dysart spirit had died away when they tore down the old campus. They no longer have pep rallies like we used to and float competitions have almost become a thing of the past. Nobody participates in any of the activities and the Dysart Spirit is gone. Unfortunately, today's DHS students have never had the privilege of participating in a "Freshmen Initiation" like we did! Are they ever missing out on some fun!!!
Oh well, I do thank God for the memories I made!!
