Rudiger's Story

Life I fell into high-tech back in 1968 and have been there ever since. From working for most of the mainframe companies (except for IBM). After leaving mainframes I ran my own startup for seven years and although it paid the rent I decided I'd rather have someone else worry about making payroll. I've spent the last 20 odd years at Apple, Oracle, Adobe, Cisco and a number of startups. For the last five years I've been VPE or CTO at 4 different startups and am still hoping to find one that will really succ...Expand for more
eed after getting virtually wiped out during the dot.bust. I spent three years living in Tokyo as Apple's head of R&D for Japan - an experience that was one of the most rewarding in my life. Along the way I've been married and divorced (workaholics don't make the best mates) and have two great kids - the second of whom is about to embark on his college career. After a 40 year career pushing bits around I am starting to reconnect with the people in my life who have been influences of one kind or another.

5 years ago I posted this because of my reaction to the 2016 election. Maybe I was somewhat premature?
Those of us who served in the British Commonwealth forces call it Remembrance day - so I felt putting up some poppies for the edification of my American friends was appropriate - the day we remember was in 1918.
